Plopifier, automatic timelapse builder
plopifier is an automatic timelapse builder. For more than one year, I collected pictures from the Mont Saint Eynard (near Grenoble, in the French Alps). As I was taking 1 picture/10s, I ended up with a few GiB of jpegs. Building movies by hand was not an option, so I waited one more year before writing 'plopifier'. It takes these pictures and builds timelapse videos. It is able to upload videos to vimeo, so that I can save space ;)
plopifier:
- relies on a simple sqlite database to keep track of all picture
- uses mencoder to build nice videos
- is written in python
- is available on github. Clone url is:
git://github.com/dkm/plopifier.git - uses python-vimeo for interacting with vimeo.
Current features:
- the current
plopificatorfrontend simply builds a 2min video clip per day, but this is arbitrary. You simply give a start date, an end date and the video length, plopifier will do the rest.
You can see some examples on my vimeo Saint Eynard Timelapse Channel. Or, if you want a direct link, you can check the video for April 23rd 2008 (if you don't like flash, you can download a xvid/avi version).
